Okay, so after years of saying I was never going to have a blog, here I
am, writing my first post. Why'd I change my mind? Not really sure. Maybe it's because I've become addicted to reading other people's blogs over the past few months. Maybe it's because it seems that everyone and their mother has one now and, geez, guess I better get on that bandwagon. I don't know. What I do know for sure, though, is that somewhere out there in TV Land, Nelson from The Simpson is laughing at me.

Okay, first of all, I want to thank Deena Warner for designing and building this awesome site. It looks great. I love it. I also want to thank her for putting up with me, as well. I'm a serious control freak, so I know it couldn't have been easy. Thanks, Deena, for being incredibly talented and incredibly patient.

And second, I want to welcome all my visitors (all, what, 5 of you?) to my new
website. I haven't got much to say for myself, but what I do have to say is all here.

I've actually had several cool things happen to me over the past two months. Course, I didn't have a blog then, so I couldn't jabber about them, but lucky you, I do now, so just in case you haven't heard me screaming, here are the latest developments in my life:

At the beginning of February, I found out the first story I sold, "Soft, Like a Rabbit," was going to appear in Issue 6 of Fantasy Magazine (it should be out any day now,) and that it got good reviews at Tangent Online and the IROSF.

Then I found out my novelette, "The Sun God at Dawn, Rising from a Lotus Blossom," won first place in the Writers of the Future contest. That, of course, totally made my year, but things got even better a couple of days later when Robert J. Sawyer, one of the judges for my quarter, had some really, really nice things to say about the story. Thanks, Robert!!!

Then, on top of all that good stuff, I had the honor of being invited to read my work at the New York Review of Science Fiction reading series (thank you, Bill and Jim!)

So I got that going for me, which is nice.

I also went to Lunacon on the weekend of the 17th and hung out with my friends: Dave Kirtley, John Joseph Adams, Amy Tibbets, Doug Cohen, Chris Cevascoand E. It was a blast, as usual. Here are some pictures. There aren't many, but that's because I always forget that I have a camera. These were taken in my room. It was late. We were all very tired.

And, yeah, I think that's all I've got for now.

So, come on, tell the truth...for a first post, it was absolutely riveting, wasn't it?
